The first thing that I would out into room 101 is the money grabbing, cold-hearted, kill joy mugs. These people walk around, head down, scribbling away in their nasty little books, feeling proud of ruining yet another innocent person's day. If you haven't guessed yet, I am talking about the selfish traffic wardens. 99. 9% of vehicle/car owners don't even realise that they have done anything to deserve a parking ticket! How would you like it if you had paid for a 1hour pay and display ticket and you came to your care at 1 minute past and a warden was stamping the sticky yellow piece of paper on your windscreen?. For arriving at your car one minute late you have to pay a massive fine of i30. Right, imagine this. You have just had the most wonderful day out with your family, and you all had a good time, suddenly you walk over to your car to find the dreaded yellow ticket. The smiles have now hit the floor. But wait, you check your paid and displayed ticket and you are back before the expiry time†¦ so why are you getting charged? Then you read the note†¦ You put your parking ticket on the wrong side of the windscreen. How can there be a right and wrong side to put a paid and displayed ticket? As I said before, selfish, and the wardens get a little gold star off his boss!! So, I am sure that you will agree with me that the only way to avoid getting a parking ticket is to leave you windscreen wipers on full speed when you leave your car Katie Price: Speaking about brassy and common, it would be rude not to mention the queen of brassy and common; â€Å"Jordan† aka Katie Price. Without a doubt I would send this excuse of a woman to room 101. Every time I step into a newsagents or corner shop she is on the cover of â€Å"Ok! † magazine, why? Why is somebody so talent less so vulgar and so disgusting branded a â€Å"celebrity? † The lengths she will go to for money makes me want to vomit and question why she's so popular. She continuously puts her children in the spotlight and exploits them for all that there worth. She often sets the camera on them in her countless reality programmes where you can see from her vulgar language what a disgusting person she is. Constantly she moans to the media how hard it is to care for her son's illness, the same son that when she was pregnant with him spent most of her time drinking. The media being a joke it has announced this woman â€Å"Mother of the Year. Is a â€Å"Mother of the year† one who swears and makes crude comments over national television, appears in countless men's magazines, and stumbles out of nightclubs confused? I could actually not think of a worse role model for teenage girls – even younger! Than Katie Price, an anorexic glamour model that has nearly died during plastic surgery trying to perfect the â€Å"perfect† looks The first thing I have chosen to talk about as something I hate most is adverts. Whether its adverts on the television or in a magazine, they are all greatly irritating and I think many people will agree with me. I am going to talk about tele advertisements. Tele adverts are highly annoying and unwanted by everybody. For example, lets pretend you have just turned on the tele and have flicked onto an interesting movie. It's a horror film, your favourite. Your getting really into the movie and enjoying it, the suspense is building up and your dying to know what's going to happen. Your coming to the climax of the film, you cant wait to see what happens and your on the edge of your seat†¦ nd then the film stops and is replaced for 2 to 3 minutes of adverts. Your sense of excitement has disappeared immediately hasn't it? When the film eventually appears back on your screen, you have lost the desire and excitement to watch the movie that you had just 3 minutes ago. Research shows a massive 91% of people agree with us, saying adverts ruin television programs, and a huge 79% of people asked said they wished advertisements were banned! So, what I wonder is why aren't adverts getting stopped forever? Well, when asking around I've been told that some people wrongly think adverts are useful, saying they use this time either to go to the toilet or make a drink or snack. Well, when counting up the amount of advert breaks in-between an hour-long program I was watching yesterday, there was a massive 4 breaks interrupting it! No way do people need to get up and do these so-called useful things 4 times in an hour, which is every 15 minutes, which is ridiculous! Furthermore, adverts are there simply to advertise different products or services. But, who actually watches the adverts? Definitely not me, and I'm not the only one. A massive 94% of people don't pay any attention to the adverts, and 86% of these people change the channel over whilst the adverts are on. So, adverts, they do nothing but annoy people, they ruin the programs you watch and the advertisements don't get any attention by the vast majority of the population, therefore meaning they aren't doing the job they are there for. They are annoying and pointless, and I am sure everyone will agree they should definitely be put into room 101.

The first line † In the middle of nowhere†¦ † grabs the readers attention because it gets the reader wondering why this person is in the middle of nowhere, It gives the reader something to think about creating different feeling and emotions towards the reader. As you begin to read on you are given the weathers description â€Å"left behind its feeble breezes, but the heat scorched and smothered them† this shows how hot the country is but with a cool breeze, this creates quite a different affect on the reader because it sets a less mysterious scene to the first line. Near to the end of the first paragraph the word dereliction is used, this means a snse of abandonment is prevailed in the setting as it says â€Å"A deathly silence pervades the dereliction as far as the eye can see. † this shows quite a mysterious and creepy feeling towards the reader, makes you want to read on because it lures you in with the suspicion and suspense. On the second page the atmosphere is described, creating a shocking effect to the reader which again lures the reader to read on and find out more, the use of decriptive words that are used in such small sentences create a dramatic effect. â€Å"†¦ bare of breath of raging battles, rises kabul, or rather whats left of it† this shows a completely different side to Afghanistan to what we was hereing before. Grabbing the readers attention with detailed description of the way the surroundings look, â€Å"Nothing will ever be the same again† this shows a negative feeling that the reader could feel sympathy for the characters involved and this could make the reader want to read on because he/she will want to find out what happens to the characters. Within this extract there is a lot of horrific imagerey used to describe the charcters surroundings â€Å"the ruin of the city walls has spread in to the peoples souls† this is really negative and not quite a pleasant thing to imagine, to me this would pull me into reading the book more because its so strongly written that you can almost imagine every detail in your head, just like your there as one of the characters. The feelings that this extract causes the reader to feel are mixed emotions mostly quite disturbing and negative but definitely grabs the reader to read on, makes you want to keep reading because it snatches the reader from all distractions keepiing them directly focused on whats going to happen next. There is a lot of nature referrances in this extract which  could get the attention of a reader who for example like nature. In my opinion this extract s very good at grabbing the readers attention through descriptive language, It sets the scene and describes almost every detail about what happening around the characters. This would be so interesting to read because you can imagine yourself being there, feeling exactly what every character feels and sees.

Stressors vary in severity and duration .For example the responsibility of caring for a sick parent may be an ongoing source of major stress , whereas getting stuck in a traffic jam mat cause mild short term stress .Some events such as death of a loved one are stressful for everyone .But in other situations ,individuals may respond differently to the same event. Stressors can be classified into 3 general categories: 1)catastrophic stress 2)Major life changes 3)Daily hassles In addition simply thinking about unpleasant past events or anticipating unpleasant future events can cause stress for many people. 1)Catastrophe: Is a sudden , often, life threatening calamity or disaster that pushes people to do outer limits of their coping capability example earthquakes ,tornadoes ,fires ,floods and hurricanes as well as wars ,torture ,automobile accidents , violent physical attacks and sexual assaults . They often continue to affect the individuals mental health long after the event has taken place. 2)Major life changes: The most stressful events for adults involve major life changes such as death of a spouse ,family member ,divorce , imprisonment ,loosing ones job and major personal disability or illness . The most stressful events for adolescents are death ,imprisonment or divorce of parents ,personal disability or illness .Getting married is a positive experience but planning the wedding ,deciding whom to invite ,and dealing with family  members may be stressful for the couples. 3)Daily hassles: Much of the stress in our lives results from having to deal with daily hassles pertaining to our jobs ,personal relationships and everyday living circumstance .Many people experience the same hassles everyday example living in a noisy neighbourhood ,commuting with heavy traffic ,disliking ones fellow workers ,worrying about money , waiting in a long line and misplacing or losing things .When taken individually , this hassles may feel like minor irritants , but cumulatively , they can cause significant stress . Studies have found that one’s exposure to daily hassles is actually more predictive of illness than is exposure to major life events . SOLUTIONS TO STRESS 1)coping with stress: Coping with stress means using thoughts and actions to deal with stressful situations and lower our stress levels. People who cope well with stress tend to believe that the can personally influence what happens to them .The usually make more positive statements about themselves ,resist frustration ,remain optimistic and persevere even under extremely adverse circumstances. People who cope poorly with stress tend to have somewhat opposite personality characteristic such as low self esteem and a pessimistic outlook on life. Coping strategies: Psychologists distinguish 2 broad types of coping strategies: a)Problem focused coping b)Emotional focused coping The goal of both strategies is to control ones stress level. In problem focused coping people try to short circuit negative emotions by taking some actions to modify ,minimize or avoid the threatening situation . In emotional focused coping people try to directly moderate or eliminate unpleasant situations. Problem focused coping is the most effective coping strategy. 2)Social support: Social support from friends ,family members and others who care for us goes a long way in helping us to get by in times of trouble. To enforce even more problems to Africa; there is an increasing amount of desertification occurring in Africa where the deserts, especially the Sahara are becoming larger, enveloping area around them, leaving less space for land. This process is partly due to the deforestation of areas of forest; with no roots to hold soil in place, it blows away leaving an infertile desert. Europe has a well developed financial sector. Many European cities are financial centres with the City of London being the largest.19 The European financial sector is helped by the introduction of the euro as common currency. This has made it easier for European households and firms to invest in companies and deposit on banks in other European countries as exchange rate fluctuations are now non-existent in Europe. As mentioned above, Europes economy is superior to that of Africa, so what can Africa do to improve its economy or perhaps what can it take from the Europe economy as a model. Professor J A. van Ginkel held a conference on the Knowledge and Development in Africa; here he talked about ways to improve Africas economy however not only by getting the economic policies right.20 Prof van Ginkel mentions that there is now substantial evidence that institutional weakness in many African countries is a critical obstacle to economic performance.21 From the surveys he conducted on the obstacles to business in Africa it highlights the damage caused by: the unpredictability of changes in laws and policies, the unreliability of law enforcement, and the impact of corrupt bureaucracies.22 Unless governments eliminate these kinds of obstacles then it is unlikely that the economy whether it is just locally in certain parts of Africa or on a national front will flourish. An aspect of the Europe model that Africa can learn from is the aspect of knowledge. No commodity is more expensive than knowledge. An Africa without a sustainable, strong knowledge sector of its own will always remain in a dangerously dependent position. Research and training institutions on the continent can make a critical contribution in at least three ways: by making the most of existing indigenous knowledge; by accessing the vast reservoir of existing global knowledge, as well as the ongoing advances in understanding, and adapting them to suit specific local conditions; and by helping to find innovative solutions to seemingly intractable problems.23 In terms of human resources, it was highlighted in the Seminars of Anticipation that African developments suffers from a tragic paradox: on the one hand, elites trained in Western world are too many (and most of them stay in the US or in the EU because they cannot find well-paid qualified positions in Africa, or because their skills do not correspond to African needs); while on the other hand the well-trained intermediate executives required to manage a modern economy are cruelly missing in Africa (higher technical experts, management executives, civil administrators). To conclude, this essay has looked the economies of both Europe and Africa and compared and contrast both of them. It has also provided information about both economies in terms of trade and finance. There are numerous personality theories that exist making the most major ones fall right into at least one of our four major perspectives. These perspectives on personality attempt to describe the different patterns in personality, including how the patterns form and how people differ on individual levels. In my essay I will go into more in depth detail about these major perspectives and afterwards explain to you how changeable or unchangeable I think my personality is. To start off, there are four different perspectives. The first is Psychoanalytic Perspective. This perspective emphasizes the importance of early childhood experiences and the unconscious mind. This particular perspective was created by psychiatrist Sigmund Freud who strongly believed that things that are hidden in the unconscious could be revealed in numerous different ways. However the Neo-Freudian theorists only agreed in the importance of the unconscious, but disagreed with other aspects of Freud’s theories. The second perspective is called The Humanistic Perspective. This focuses on psychological growth, free will, and my favorite, personal awareness. This perspective is my favorite because it takes a more positive outlook on human nature and is centered on how each person can achieve their individual potential. The third perspective is called The Trait Perspective. This one is centered on identifying, describing, and measuring certain traits that make up a human’s personality. By knowing and understanding this, researchers have come to believe that they can now better comprehend the differences between individuals. The last perspective is The Social Cognitive Perspective. This one emphasizes the major importance of observational learning, self-efficiency, situational influences and cognitive processes. Now as far as explaining how changeable or unchangeable I think my own personality is, my personality really depends on who you are, what day it is, what went on that day, and in a lot of cases what kind of mood I’m in.

Reflection is something that is personal and it allows on a retrospective to analyze where we started, how we did it, was it done towards personal satisfaction and if opportunity comes again how different would we do it the next time. In the reflection below, I will be taking cues from Gibbs (1988) model of reflection; we will look at the event, consulting, team, time management, planning, progression, discussion, presentation and finally introspection. Event: Food is an important part of any celebration regardless of culture or religion. In these unit students, we examine a range of special occasions and prepare foods unique to specific celebrations. Food presentation and service is a focus of the unit and we learn how to present and garnish foods appropriate to a given setting. We submit a proposal for a large scale catering event and collaboratively host a celebration for a major school event. The cuisine that we selected is Arabian, which is Mediterranean. As a team we finalised the menu as follows. Planning: The primary activity that the group carried out was to come with a realistic plan for the event, therefore two activities were done on corresponding times , defining the roles of each of the team member so as to clearly demarcate our roles and responsibilities within the event. The Proposal was the guideline that we strictly followed within the timelines that helped us to complete the event on time. Roles given to me were to identify the appropriate indent for the dishes that we would use for the event, which was unanimously decided to be indent table method. Discussion and progression: We as a team had regular meeting about our event and observing demonstration given by the teacher Jane estham and Michael Mathews which helped us quite a lot things in conducting this event. The work flow plan was drawn and executed by our team. The details of the workflow plan activity provided us a clear cut experience in food service. Final presentation: Having several meetings and practices the final presentations are made n which the team is segregated into two, food service and food production in which my part falls in food production, we considered each one is manager and those circumstances made us feel like a manager in food service industry. Mise en place (pre preparation) was carried out well as a team; welcome drinks are served to the guests on time in which the welcome drink we served them is a Middle East famous drink called Rooh afza. They are served with rocks to the guests. The service style we preferred is table service and also it is pre plated service in where portioning is considered as a matter of fact. Soup is being served piping hot to the guests with garnishes on. Service is also gone through well and the guests are being cared by our service personnel. We could have interacted more with our guests and would have got their valuable comments about the event, to do this we had no clear idea of the procedure to do the same As international students we had hard time collecting the information necessary, next time we will device a better way to reach to the guests. Stage 3 evaluation: The food event that we carried helped us to work as a team and plan our work accordingly so that no one felt overburdened, the team had a cohesive standing at all times ,therefore if this has to be done again we would do it with the same team, Also the work itself of collecting the information and gathering data was an eye opener ,which helped me to understand that only planning and replanning and contingency planning will help me to get the fruitful comment from our guests . I would have failed if I had not planned for the contingencies that may arise during our menu planning. Still the only detail that we failed to do was to speak to the guests whom we invited, I felt communication with our guest was less and it could have been done to made it better that had given us the work , having failed to do this resulted in the event giving us an alternative idea at the end of the presentation i.e we could have been placed a comment note on their tables to leave their comments to make us go wise more. As discussed earlier the presentation and data collection were the two things that went the best but failing to have communicated with the guests was the worst thing that happened in the event. Stage 4 Analysis: The analysis of the report and creating them into a format understandable was the important part of the task which I did well and I could do that keeping my tech skills and also helped me to furnish the part of my report at ease. Stage 5 reflection: Having to work under a team,had let me off some key responsibilities such as planning which we left to the tutor. Would take more time to plan on how to go about getting the best recipes and more qualitative. Two characters in the play represent the two central arguments. First of all there is Ken, Ken believes that he should have the right to choose to die, it is his life, he says that his whole life before his accident was sculpture, and now that he cannot sculpt because he is paralysed below his neck, he will never be able to sculpt again: 'I'm almost completely paralysed and always will be. I shall never be discharged by the hospital.' According to Ken his life is already over: 'Of course I want to live but as far as I am concerned, I'm dead already†¦I cannot accept this condition constitutes life in any real sense at all.' These are Behaviorism, Biological, Cognitive, Humanist and Psychoanalytical. I will then attempt to evaluate the pros, cons and practical applications of the Behaviorist and Psychodynamic approaches. BEHAVIORISM The earliest origins of behaviorism can be stemmed from the philosopher John Locke (1632-1704). He believed that the human being is born as a 'tabula rasa'. This effectively means a neonate is a blank slate with no prior knowledge or ideas. According to Locke it is experience through senses, which provides the mind. The modern founding father of behaviorism is John Watson (1878-1958). He believed that ÃŽÂ ¨ should be about the study of observable behavior and that behavior is molded by experience. Behaviorists believe that however complex a piece of behavior might be, it is possible to break it down and analyze it in basic STIMULUS-RESPONSE units. This theory also relates to Reductionism, where psychologists attempt to understand behavior by looking at the most basic parts. This S-R theory can be best demonstrated in the work of a Russian psychologist called Pavlov (1849-1936). His theory of Classical Conditioning centred on his study of dogs and his attempt to artificially condition a natural response. The sight/smell of food leading to salivation is an unconditioned S-R. He introduced a neutral stimulus when food was presented so the dogs associated the two. After this conditioning was complete the dog salivated when presented with the neutral stimu... ...ed from one subject. So if the basis for the research is in doubt the results must also be brought into question. In modern research a large sample is demanded to give room for error and individual differences. The main theme is that we are controlled by our past, this is true to an extent but it implies that we have no control over our lives. All our actions are pre-determined by past experiences.
